How Affirmative Action Will Bring Down the US

Believers of the Affirmative Action (AA) policy are invited to have a good look at pictures on the left, which depict the daily journey a group of 50 elementary students take to receive education.

These young men and women, aged 5 to 12 of Xinmin Village, Shimen Township, Weining County of Guizhou Province, get up before 5:00 in the morning, cook their own breakfast while they parents are working in some sweatshops somewhere hundreds of miles away. They will gather around 5:30 am and start marching to their elementary school 2 hours ahead, passing through dirty roads, mountains, graveyards and deserted illegal mining caves. Little boy Li Lei (with black and blue backpack, green sneakers) has heart problems. He will set out 20 minutes earlier accompanied by his sister Li Yao, so that he can take some breaks on their way and still get to the school on time.

After a full day's learning, they hack back together to the village via the same route to complete the daily routine.

These pictures were taken on February 28th, 2013.

Chinese across the world, rich and poor, study this hard when they have an opportunity. In the US, there are many Chinese who are professional with high income, but there are more first generation immigrants coming from poor countryside villages such as the one depicted in the pictures on the left who represents the bottom of the lower income society. Still, they work hard and educate their children to study hard, as they see that is the only way to change their fate through hard working. Look at these people, do they deserved to be punished by the Affirmative Action admission policy, just because they work too hard?

All men and women are born equal. Chinese are not more intelligent, and they too would prefer living on government welfare then working their butt off if that is a choice.

Imagine what if some US politicians descend from the sky and tell the kids that they will receive $500 each month for doing nothing. And that they will be rewarded with a 400 point advantage when applying to college. And the catch will be that they must not take learning seriously. They should not go to school unless there would be a shining school bus waiting and free meals provided. Most importantly, They must not score a passing grade otherwise not only all benefits would be gone but also they would be punished by openly discrimination in college admission process.

The US raised to the No. 1 economy in the world through hard working by late generations, not food stamp or affirmative action admission. Who should weep for the fall of the US? When?

The Candid Camera: Only in China

Olympus Tough TG-1 12MP 3X Optical Zoom Silver Digital Camera (Google Affiliate Ad)

You might have thought that you miss-typed a few letters and stumped upon a porn site, like the long-gone whitehouse.org, when you log on the official website of National Land Bureau in Xingguo County of Guangxi, because all faces of senior officials of the Bureau had been mosaic-ed.

It's a security feature, explained Mr. Tang, the Communist Disciplinary Committee Chief, told a reporter. A few months ago, almost all officials received 'Photoshop-ed' pictures depicting them with unknown women, naked. With the letter, there is a note demanding a large amount of money for silence. Because they honestly did not remember how many women they had had, many wired the money. As a precaution, their faces were technically scrambled, said Mr. Tang.

The corruption is so prevailing among officials nowadays such that officials have become victims of random targeting. Some criminals sent spam messages to officials with one line words: wire $$$ to this account otherwise we will expose your crime. Many followed just in case.

The picture on the left were taken by a person passing by. It happened to be one day before the boys were found dead in a garbage container on the street. It is believed to be the last picture of these boys, possibly the only picture in their lives.

Nov 16, 2012, Bijie of Guizhou Province, five children cuddled in a garbage container to keep warm. All five were found dead the next morning. Aged from 5 to 10, the kids had been wandering on the streets for months according to residents nearby. When a former reporter broke the story online at Kaidi Community, the entire country were shocked and saddened by the modern Little Match Boys.

Beijie Police acted quickly to arrest the reporter Mr. Li Yuanlong and pressed criminal charges for revealing the death of kids. Li was sentenced to jail for 2 years in 2005 for similar offense, and has been jobless. Li's son, now studying in Canada, said the family was proud of Li. Facing online pressure, police allowed Li back home in early morning on Nov 25. Li wrote in Weibo, 'Gloria in excelsis Deo.'

Chinese netizens banged on their keyboards demanding heads roll. The government and the Party listened. This morning, residents noticed new slogan was painted on garbage containers on streets. It now reads (the red Chinese characters beneath the large openings): 'HUMAN OR ANIMAL STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.'

Four years ago in Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Province, three little girls were actually caught on camera warming themselves with a box of matches.

In an interview aired by the official China Central Television (CCTV), audiences noticed the wrist of the senior official of the Interior Department was mosaic-ed. CCTV responded that the process was to hide a logo on the official's chest. However, viewers pointed out that the measure was to prevent concerned citizens from finding out the watch she was wearing.

Several officials had been found to own multiple expensive watches valued beyond reach of their wages, and were forced to step down.

Shame of a Nation

Second graders of the Yanshang Elementary School do not have their own classroom. The rented farm barn cost CNY 400 per year. Yanshang Elementary School is in Kunzhai Township of Nayong County in Guizhou Province. Lucky them, the school had been picked by a number of charity organizations, as well as the provincial government as a model site for free lunch. Before, most 274 students could not afford to pack lunch. For many families, a bowl of rice can only be found at dinner table on the New Year's Eve.
A lunch cost CNY 2.3 ($0.40) but it's so much for the kids. Some even took their young siblings to share one dish. Hangzhou Charity Union's free lunch project received CNY 1.12 million donations in a week. A group-buy website sold 30 thousands lunch donations at CNY 2.3 a piece in 2 days. The free lunch project was organized by a local charity 'Love Nayong'. The first meal was made ready on April 14. Premier Wen Jiabao announced in August that the central government would pick up the bill to provide free lunch for poor students across the country.

Nobody is Safe

20 years old Ms. Tian was born in a privileged family. Her father Mr. Tian Wanchang was the former deputy mayor of Liupanshui City of Guizhou Province, in charge of police, court system and local prosecutors. Her mother was an official of the Ministry of State Security.

The Tian family's life turned upside down when Ms. Tian was raped by an even higher ranked official Mr. Zhou Shili on January 8, 2009 in a hotel room in Guiyang. The Tian family had since been on the road to petition for justice. Two years later, the case went nowhere. The family could not find one agency to admit evidence related to the case.

The story was reported by Hong Kong based ifeng.com.

With all resources pertained to the family of senior officials, they couldn't find justice when wronged by a person of higher rank.

Across the Pacific, the murderer of Caylee Anthony was found 'not guilty' by the court despite a clear, unmistakable, and loud national outcry.

Your Adopted Girl is Not an Orphan

Your adopted girl may not be an infant, as you had been told by officials of Chinese authorities. Guangzhou based South Metropolitan News exposed government made profit by selling girls to foreigners at $3,000 each. Some baby girls were taken from their family to be placed in government-own orphanages. Foreigners waiting to adoption were told they would be adopting an orphan.

In Zhuenyuan County of Guizhou Province, more than 300 infant girls were sold by the government this way. An investigation was followed, and one local official received a warning sanction within the Party while five others were verbally reprimanded.

Boycott Beijing Olympics, Shall We?

What happened on the night of the death of the 15 years old girl Li Shufen could remain a mystery forever, at least that's the impression after watching the broadcast news conference held by the Guizhou Government.

In the official account released by the Guizhou Government, the girl was asked out with two boys. They had dinner then walked to a bridge. Then one of the boy, the government stated he was the girl's boyfriend, a fact disputed by the victim's family, did some push-up and left. Then the other boy, friend of the former boy, started doing 'push-up' on the bridge. While he was doing 'push-up', the girl jumped over the bridge.

The government's conclusion was suicide. Too many high-profile cases in the past a few years ended up with the victims being suicided. 'To be suicided' has since become a popular Internet jargon.

Another joke point of the news conference was that the Q&A session was not only rehearsed, but also staged and played out by substitute actors and actresses. There were quite a few reporters from overseas media, such as from Hong Kong and Taiwan. However, all of these reporters spoke in a heavy local accent.

We had defended the Chinese government on Tibetan issues, we had cheered the Olympic Torch, but unless the government conduct a thorough investigation into the scandal and cover-up by high level officials in this candle, we will boycott the Beijing Olympics!

Mafia Boss Jiang Yanhu

Even though messages and postings were promptly deleted, more details of the Weng'an uprising emerged on the Internet. The Mafia boss who instructed local police to release the murderers of a 15 years old girl is Jiang Yanhu, a top CCP Party official in Guizhou Province.

Jiang Yanhu is the Director of Guizhou Security Bureau, First Political Director of the militarized police in Guizhou, standing committee member of the CCP Guizhou Party, and the vice speaker of the Guizhou provincial legislature.

Jiang Yanhu was a colleague of Chinese President Hu Jintao, when Hu was the governor of Guizhou. Now every ordinary people in China knows whom to blame, let's wipe our eyes to see how long can Hu pretend nothing had happened.

The story has been picked up by western media:

  • Reuters: China Announces Olympics Stability Drive After Riot

Den Lille Pige med Svovlstikkerne

January 20th, 2008, Guiyang. An eight years old girl struck a match to warm up her fingers in below zero temperature. She and two similar age friends collect garbage on the street despite chilling wind. "I like match, it's bright and warm", "but it doesn't last long".

Guiyang is the capital city of Guizhou Province in southwestern China.
