Only in China

More than 100,000 LEOs and active duty soldiers were credited for the killing of Zhou Kehua, a bandit who was assumed to be responsible for more than a dozen innocent lives in a span of a decade.

Although there are still questions and rumors remained to be answered, in particular whether the dead man was Zhou Kehua himself, for the record keeping purpose, it's safe to say that Zhou Kehua is no longer with us. The mighty government has a way to make sure that is how history remembers, one way or another.

However, look at the photos from the scene, depicting Chongqing residents rushed to have a look at the dead body. It is not surprising that the last time a red sun, Mr. Bo Xilai, rising took place in this inland region.

It's clear they could care less about whatever questions or rumors, what they do care was a free display of a fresh dead body, still simmering heat and dripping blood.

Chongqing, used to be part of Sichuan, was elevated to a provincial-level municipality in 1997. We knew there had been one good person in Sichuan, obviously it's in somewhere outside of Chongqing.

Delegate Detained During the Annual Extravaganza

Zhang Mingyu, a Delegate of the Chongqing People's Congress, was detained by police in Beijing, while the National People's Congress was in session from March 5th to 14th.

Zhang's room was broken through by police from Chongqing Municipality in the afternoon of March 8th. A Deputy Police Chief (Mr. Tang) flanked by 4 armed policemen took Zhang from his room during daylight. On March 7th, Zhang announced he would disclose explosive evident that would prove corruptions in Chongqing.

According to Chinese law, a delegate to the People's Congress could not be arrested before he is stripped off his membership by the House.

Both the Party Chief Bo Xilai and the Governor Huang Qifan are attending the National People's Congress in Beijing. The annual sitting is deemed an extravaganza show of democracy under the communists rule. Bo's henchman Wang Lijun defected to the US's General Consulate in Chengdu last month. Zhang revealed a few days ago that another senior official of Chongqing committed suicide.

It is believed that Chongqing police had received permission from Beijing to carry out this obviously unlawful arrest.

Connecting Dots

Wang Lijun's whereabouts between Monday 2/6/2012 and Wednesday 2/8/2012 might never be confirmed by either Chinese or American government. We may never know what happened inside the US Chengdu General Consulate. Having that said, below is one most plausible plot:

In the months leading to the final show down, Wang should have already sensed Bo's malice. Because of Bo's absolute power in Chongqing, as well as his political clot in the nation, Wang has no chance at all to fight back. Judging from Bo's track record, it was logical for Wang to believe Bo would harm him and very possibly his families and friends. Therefore, it amounted to a duty and obligation for Wang to strike back.

The US consulate is picked perhaps because it is the only place in the southeastern China where Wang can have a direct and uninterrupted communication with central government in Beijing. Wang was under tight monitoring long before he had been stripped off Police Chief duty. He was not allowed to travel. If he try to flee on foot, he might be immediately arrested, or quietly killed as a fugitive.

Wang jumped on an opportunity when he was arranged to inspect a local university as a stage-show to tell the public everything had been normal. He fled in disguise and drove an unmarked car to the capital city Chengdu of neighboring Sichuan Province, where he scheduled a meeting with the US consulate. The Consulate arranged him to sneak in the US General Consulate in Chengdu. However, Wang was identified by a security agent working for the central government.

What happened in the next 24 hours was not clear. Wang might left some important evidence to prove Bo's involvement in crimes. Wang might discusses refuge or asylum status issue with US officials. Wang might spoke to some senior officials in Beijing. Wang might had a talk with his boos Bo.

In the end, outside the consulate there was an armed stand-off between paramilitary troops equipped with heavy equipment from Chongqing and local police who are reinforced by security forces belonged to central government. Bo tried to take Wang back to Chongqing by force, but was pushed back by Beijing.

The US General Consular was not in the consulate at the time on Tuesday night. He went out for unknown reason but could not come back because of road blocks and a man-made traffic jam. Wang received a call from a commander outside the consulate. Wang was told if he did not walk out, then police would break in using the excuse that there might be a bomb inside the building. Wang contacted the General Consular again, and was told he did not know when could he get back to the consulate. Wang decided to walk out. Spokesperson of the US State Department said Wang walked out in his own volition. She also stated there was no threat to the Chengdu Consulate, and US did not request increased security to the consulate.

While Wang walked out, he shouted to police surrounded the building that he had collected evidence of crimes committed by Bo Xilai. Bo was taken by the security forced loyal to the central government, and flown to Beijing within hours.

Now that it had become an international incident. The central government will have legitimate excuse as well as a procedural obligation to launch an investigation against Wang's charges against Bo. It is revealed that a high level delegate had stationed the Jinniu (Golden Bull) Hotel in Chengdu since the incident, and that there was no sign they were leaving anytime soon.

A Picture Is Worth a Thousand of Words

Because of online censorship, the above emoticon posted on the micro-blog Weibo run by Sina told a following fictional story:

Last night, an individual walked in the US Consulate in Chengdu of Sichuan Province seeking refuge protection. The Consulate was subsequently surrounded by troops enforced with over 70 APCs from neighboring Chongqing, a province-level Metropolitan, led by the Mayor of Chongqing Mr. Hong Qifan. More local police and central government security forces rushed to the scene. After negotiations, the US Consulate released the man. There was an armed standoff between paramilitary forces from Chongqing and security forces loyal to Beijing. In the end, the person was taken by security forces from the central government and flew to Beijing via Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Rumor has it that the man in the above story is Mr. Wang Lijun. Wang was released from the position of Police Chief of Chongqing a few days ago. Wang had been credited for his heavy hand measures in cracking down organized crimes, but was also criticized for human rights abuse in the process.

The portrait to the far right was an official picture of Wang in his new assignment, the deputy Mayor of Chongqing in charge of education. It was discovered by the online community that the picture was a Photoshop job of a dated portrait of Wang (left) when he was the police chief. A suit was laid on top of his uniform, and a pair of glasses was added to fit his new role.

Rumor has it that Wang had been placed under tight control for an unknown period. Up to 11 deputies and aides of Wang had been arrested by the Chongqing Governor Bo Xilai. The new post of Deputy Mayor was only a cover for investigation before Wang would be formally prosecuted. Wang already lost freedom, and was in no position to shoot another 'official' photo. The propaganda department had to Photoshop a new 'official portrait' to make people believe it was yet another normal day. Wang jumped on the opportunity, when Bo ordered Deputy Mayor Wang to inspect a local university as a staged show of harmony, to disguise as another person and flee to neighboring Sichuan Province.

Wang Lijun had been acting as Bo's henchman in Bo's bid for higher power, but also became a political burden. It is said that Bo, sensing dangerous, decided to get rid of Wang.

Bo Xilai, the Chongqing Governor, is known for his Great Revolution style approach, which was a outlier today, even in communist China. Wang's defection is seen as a major setback for Bo's ambition for a higher post in the upcoming Party's National Conference. The 18th CCP National Conference which is expected to be held later this year will decide the Politburo, government and cabinet for the next 10 years.

Today, the office of the Chongqing Government released a brief micro-blog regarding the incident. In a literal translation, it said Wang was placed under a 'vacation-style therapy', a phrase troubled reporters from BBC and CNN alike, trying to figure out an accurate translation. After all, there was no such phrase in Chinese, never before.

9th Grader Suicide on Textbook Fees

A middle school student in Chongqing killed herself, after she couldn't pay a CNY 250 ($40) textbook fee. The student is from a poor family. The school is the Shanghe Middle School in Chongqing.

The city of Chongqing, one of four municipals along Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai, was reported to had spent CNY 270 billion ($45 billion) on a campaign to 'Sing Red Songs' in 3 years since Bo Xilai was named the Party Boss. People in Chongqing sing red songs in over 104,000 dedicated events, totaling 80 million headcounts. Everyone must participate, and they sing the red songs (revolutionary fighting songs) to other places, including tours in top theaters in Beijing. As Beijing is the official capital city of the country, Chongqing is often referred to as the 'Red Capital' due to its red song singing campaign.

If only some of the money could be used towards middle school textbook.

11 tourists fell into water, two still missing in Chongqing

The title is a faithful duplication of the official Xinhua News: 11 people fell into water after the collision. Nine had been rescued, while 2 were still missing. The spokesperson of the Rail Ministry, Mr. Wang Yongping, said, ".. whether you believe it or not...well, I did."

The accident happened earlier today, near downtown of Chongqing Municipal, the largest city in China (by population), watched by thousands of people in daylight. The dining tour boat capsized and submerged entirely in less than 5 seconds (video).

Look at the first photo, and count how many heads do you see. Perhaps, the official Xinhua News reporter was a crazy mathematician with one finger missing. She counted, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 1, 2, 3, ......

And now you know why Flickr, PBase, etc. were all blocked in China.

It is Cisco Again

John Chambers, CEO of Cisco, has accepted an appointment to be the counsel of international economics of the Chongqing Mayor.

In particular, Chambers will help Chongqing to build a cloud computing farm with international orientation. This farm will process data for foreign companies, one named company being HP. The cloud farm enjoys 'unfiltered' access to the Internet, with only occasional examinations of the data from the Chinese authority. The arrangement was approved by the central government in April 2011.

The 10 square kilometers farm is located in the Water-Earth Industrial Park of Beipei District of Chongqing.

Under Governor Bo Xilai, Chongqing has made itself the 'Red Capital' of communist China. The ultimate question for oversea companies who plan to take advantage of this 'cloud' will be whether they can assure data security to their customers.

Chongqing Express: Cracking Down Organized Crimes

A Chongqing Party District Chief's conversation with a real estate developer was recorded and placed on the Internet. The recording, which was made on or about 15:00 on August 5, 2010, officially revealed a known secret of Chongqing's cracking down on organized crimes.

The Party Chief, Wang Yinfeng was heard asking the developer in a threatening tone, 'do you know why Chongqing cracked down on organized crime? Do you know what is organized crime? Anyone not agreeing with the government's decision will be cracked down as a criminal!' The Party Chief of Chongqing, Mr. Bo Xilai, has been making a big scene with his heavy hand approach in cracking down organized crimes in Chongqing. Bo is believed to show his ambition to higher posts, such as the Premier or Deputy Premier.

The developer was summoned to halt works on a site immediately because it interfered with the 'Feng Shui' of the district government's administration building complex. The Party Chief agreed to assign another site for compensation, but the developer was not satisfied because of the location.

The Feng Shui factor is a sensitive issue because the Communists Party does not believe in superstitious beliefs.

Wang Yinfeng was born in Henan Province. Wang received a PhD from Beijing University. Before current post as the Party Chief of the Jiangjin District of Chongqing, Wang held position such as associate staff scientist of the Henan Geography Institute of the Chinese Science Academy.

Bo Xilai is also a Beijing University graduate.

There are no Black Lung Patients in China

There were no homosexuals in Iran, as said the visiting Irian President Mahmound Ahmadinejad on a Columbia University forum in 2007.

There are no black lung patients in China despite the all well known work environment issues, as decided by the Chinese Comnunist Party.

A deadly struggle between seven black lung workers and the Party ended up deadly, as described in a recent story carried by the Nanfang Daily.

In the village of Dawu in Wanzhou of Chongqing, seven villagers set out to work in a factory in Wenzhou, Zhejiang in 1997. They were fired by the factory in 2002 when they were too ill to work. Seven came back with black lungs. They battled the legal system in the past five years. The result: five are already dead, and two are still not recognized as black lung patients. The Party boss of Chongqing, Mr. Bo Xilai, proudly stated that there were no black lung patients in Chongqing.

Dead bodies:
Xiang Yin,
Maochen, Qin,
Bin Xiong,
Shaojing Xiong (Bin Xiong's cousin),
Lunhua Mou,

Waiting to be dead, but not classified as black lung:
Zibing Pu
Yu Yin (Xiang Yin's little brother)

Chinese Soccer Team World Champion

A professional Chinese soccer team won a world championship in the 21th World Middle School Soccer Tournament held in Turkey.

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) released a statement saying although the team was actually the national professional team, but the Association had nothing to do with the game. Players participated the game 'individually', disguised themselves as students of the Chongqing Daping Middle School. Two real students of the Chongqing Daping Middle School indeed travelled with the team to Turkey, but they were never called on to play on the field.

The head coach of the national team also joined the game as a staff of the Chongqing middle school. When interviewed by a reporter in Turkey, Wu Haiyan, a professional player told him that she had no idea she was playing for the middle school even though the school name was printed on her jersey. "Coaches took care of these stuffs", said Wu.

Chines media was not shocked by the scandal of the national team presented to be a middle school team. However, people are dismayed on the close call results between the Chinese professional team and those authentic middle school teams.

Chongqing's mayor, Bo Xilai is known as a 'soccer mayor' ever since he was the mayor of Dalian, Liaoning. Bo is also a national leader, being a member of the communist party politburo. Bo is the son of late Party leader Bo Yibo.

Only Chinese Travellers Are Allowed to Die on Chinese Rail

Only Chinese travellers could die on Chinese rail system in a harmonic society.

Chen Shanwu got on the K160 train from Kunming to Chongqing on January 14, 2009. Around 4 o'clock the next morning, he suffered a seizure, 2 hours before it would arrive the final destination Chongqing. His wife Li Zhengying reported to the attendants, but was told the train would not stop for a sick person so they would have to wait. In addition, the train was behind schedule, so it would skip a few scheduled stops. The words from the rail was to 'HOLD ON' until it arrive Chongqing 2 hours later. Two hours later, Chen Shanwu died.

On August 22 last year, in a high profile PR stunt, a high speed train 2220 from Qiqihaer to Dalian made an unscheduled emergent stop so that a group of seven Japanese tourists could catch their flight. The rail system even arranged police car escort between the train stop place and the airport.

The rail system is not the only state run agency to honor the Communism government's call to build a harmonic society. On December 19, 2008, the Chinese aviation authority opened up an air route in Xinjiang so that an American who got cold could have a shorter flight to Hong Kong. The route was closed immediately afterwards. Not far away in northwestern airport in Jiuquan, a 14 years old Chinese girl was denied boarding a flight to nearby city Lanzhou, the only chance for her to have a surgery to connect leg severed in a car accident. The girl had to take a car to the hospital, and lost her leg forever.

It is a personal tragedy to be born in a communism China as a Chinese. On the other hand, if you bear a foreign passport, Welcome to Beijing!

Chairman Mao's Big Coming Back

Chairman Mao is coming back. A 37 meters stainless steel statue of Chairman Mao was erected in Chongqing Medical University. The status will be the largest in Chongqing.

In the era of the Great Cultural Revolution, there is a Chairman Mao's statue on every campus in Chinese colleges and universities. The statues were usually built and installed by students of local campus, and there had been silent competitions on which college build the larger statue with better pose. For example, a statue of Mao waving is considered more challenging in build technique then one with his hands on his back. A hat in the struck out hand deserves extra bonus points. Most of these statues had been retired from college campuses across the nation in the era of Reform after 1978. Some statues were removed quietly to make room for other fashionable projects; while some were bombed to piece in symbolic moves.

Yet another Mao's statue was erected in Xiangtan University in Hunan Province last month. The banner on the flatbed truck read 'Warm Welcome Chairman Mao's Statue Coming to Xiangtan University!'.

A Little Girl's Call of Duty

Xiao Dongxiang (little winter aroma) teared when she talked about her mother.

Lei Dongxiang is a 12 years gril who lives in Group 4, Shidi Village, Daxi Town, Jiuyang County of Chongqing. Her Dad died when she was 5 years old, left her a mentally disordered mother and a retard big brother Lei Maolin. From then on, 5 years old Dong Xiang took the duty of taking care of her family.

Dongxiang remembers the morning when her mother was found dead outside two years ago. She died when fell to a dig. "I felt my brother and I were doomed. Although Mom never helped but cause trouble, but when she died, I found totally lost. When Dad died, I knew we still had Mom. When Mom became crazy, I knew the family would rely on me. However, when Mom died, I knew we couldn't live without Mom, but we have to."

"Now I realized, although Mom was crazy, she still loved my brother and me. Now that I couldn't do anything for Mom. Mom is no longer here. I have to take good care of my big brother so that my Mom is happy looking down from heaven."

Dongxiang's 18 years old brother is retard. Dongxiang had to keep an eye on him all the time so that he doesn't make trouble or hurt himself.

Every morning, Dongxiang will get up before the day break, make breakfast and make sure big brother eat his. Then Dongxiang will walk 1 hour to school. She is a 5 grader. Coming back from school, she will do homework and cook dinner for the family. She does not have lunch at school. On Weekends, she washes clothes. Her brother always has many clothes need to be washed, as he always makes them dirty.

Last year, the brother fell ill again. Dongxiang rush to help, but the brother slapped her and beat her, as he always did when ill. Later, the brother saw the marks on Dongxiang's arm and asked her what's it about. After learned what had happened, the brother said, 'I don't know what I did. Please don't get close to me if I fell ill in the future. I will get better in a while'. This is the first time her brother said something that's so intimate and touching. Dong Xiang had a good cry in his arms.

A few nice people had offered to adopt Dongxiang. Everything Dongxiang would ask, 'can my brother come with me?' When she learned it's not a possibility, she determined to live with and take care of her brother all by herself.

"I used to thought my crazy Mom was a burden. I knew I was wrong when Mom died. Now I no longer think my brother is a burden". Dongxiang sometimes discussed stuff with her brother. "Although he doesn't understand, but in the least I have someone to talk to".

Dong Xiang's hobby is drawing. She drew a lot of paintings of her Mom. She has little memory of her Dad. She said her Mom was the most beautiful Mom in the world.
