How Cold War Mentality Hurt National Security

Shocking revelations from the investigation following the Boston Marathon bombing is as alarming as it is troubling. The main suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev went on a Muslim training tour in Russia for half year while the FBI/CIA had no clue. The Russian intelligence agency tipped the suspicious behavior to FBI, but that fell to deaf ears, somehow. One of the two foreigners arrested afterwards for assisting the suspects entered the US with invalid visa.

On the other hand, FBI spent numerous money on hunting of Chinese spies. NASA contractor Dr. Jiang Bo was arrested at Dulles Airport with tons of serious charges. In the end, he was let go on an admission of downloading copyrighted movies, the only crime he had committed.

It set up a dangerous legal precedence because as many as 30,000 million Americans had admitted that they downloaded copyrighted materials without a license. With that, prosecutors will be able to charge many citizens, or to pressure them to do things against their free will. That was actually the exact reason the federal prosecutor in the Lori Drew case gave up a winning case so that the spirit of law can be upheld.

Jiang's case reflected a desperate situation in advanced research in the US. NASA can not use Chinese talents, including those who had obtained advanced degrees in the US. Jiang and a few others were working as contractors at NASA through National Institution of Aerospace (NIA).

When the NASA Director testified in the Congress, before he was interrupted, he stated in this time of modern world, it's counterintuitive not to collaborate with the Chinese in space technology. It is hurting the US science and technology development.

Still, politicians politicized it as a political pitch, and named Jiang as an example at a congressional hearing. Reading his own name on the local newspaper, Jiang changed his tickets to flee out of the country, which further excited the nerve of the FBI. He was stopped at the gate and interrogated several hours at the airport, until federal agents got a good excuse to arrest him. Jiang was not upfront about his laptop (some say it is a portable hard drive). FBI believed it must be sensitive secrets from NASA. After weeks of forensic analysis, there are nothing but porn movies Dr. Jiang downloaded from the Internet. And that explains why he was not upfront at the first place.

The bigger issue is that resources are misallocated.

The Animal Farm had already evolved into the 'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others' stage. It is no longer a threat to neighbors. It will be foolish for one farm to insist on treating the Animal Farm the ideological way, and potentially risk being isolated by the rest of the world.

A few days after the Boston bombing, more than a dozen Chinese officials were ambushed by Muslim terrorists in a routine community event. Except one police chief, all unarmed. Among the dead, several young female minority social workers. The US government was quick to jump out and blame the Chinese government on oppressing minorities. It seems politicians in the US are not aware where the Boston bombing suspect came from.

China's Affirmative Action

It may be hard for westerners who had been brainwashed by Washington Post or New York Times to accept the reality that minorities, such as those in Tibet and Urghur Muslims in Xinjiang, in China enjoy more rights and privileges than the majority Han people.

According to the official police report released on Weibo (Chinese knock off of Twitter), a resident Mr. Ling had a dispute with a group of Urghur Muslim from Xinjiang, when he bought fruit cake from them. Tianyue police station (Yuyang, Hunan Province) arrested Ling, and compensated Urghur Muslims for the loss cakes damaged in the dispute. The Urghur Muslim group agreed to go back to Xinjiang.

People were quick to point out the police might have paid too much for the cake. The police gave the Urghur Muslim group RMB 160k ($28,000) for the cake, and RMB 40k ($6,500) for the cart, and iced the deal with a criminal charge against the buyer.

The 'Xinjiang Fruit Cake' sellers have been as famous as Nigeria bankers. Usually, city people know to stay away. But as always, there are a few who haven't heard of it. It is a kind of very sweet cake. The trick is that it is very heavy. It is heavier than, say, gold. Imagine your surprise when you could hardly lift a palm size cake with one hand. Also, food in China is usually sold by 'Jin (500g, about a pound)'. But this kind of cake is sold by 'Liang (50g, 1 and 1/4 oz)'. When you ask for price, you would be simply told a number, say 20, and you would assume that was RMB 20 per lb, and you would assume that piece of pi cost about $1. You can't be more wrong. The piece would easily cost you $100 or more. At this time, you must pay, otherwise, you would find yourself surrounded by a group of Muslims with knives in their hands. Muslims were allowed to carry knives with them by law.

The handling of the dispute by Hunan police is typical, but rarely reported because of sensitivity of the topic. By China's criminal law, Muslim would not be punished even after committing serious crimes. Local police do not have the motivation to intervene any dispute had Muslim involved. If a police were hurt, they probably couldn't even press charge. The optimal solution for local police would be to get them away to somewhere else, anywhere but their own jurisdiction. They must have purchased tickets for the group to go back Xinjiang, but readers should not be surprised to find these Muslims in a neighboring city.

Expectantly, the police report would be taken down from the Internet. It was. It must be a omission of oversight.

The Chinese law regarding ethnic minorities is hated by Han people. However, not even all of the minorities are happy. Some Urghur scholars have been arguing that the policy encouraged Urghur youth to become thieves and robbers, and practically discourage them to become responsible citizens.

And there is the academic policies.

Unlike the affirmative action act in the US, which is hidden by layers of carefully weaved reasons and excuses behind a complicated and never made publish admission process, everything is a clear cut in China. A Urghur Muslim can enter a college with less than half of the exam scores. Although it guaranteed more college graduates as it is designed, consequently, Urghur youth have no incentive to study hard. Further more, they will find themselves unmarketable after graduating from the college because no employer believes in the value of their diploma. They will have to settle on often uninspiring government jobs (although they pay well), thanks to diversity policies in employment.

'Irvine 11' Sentenced

Muslim students who disrupted an on campus pro-Israel political speech by shouting questions were found guilty of 'conspiracy to disrupt a public speech' and 'disrupting a public speech'.

All sides cited academic freedom as an argument. The Muslim community see it a right to criticize, the pro-Israel group sees the crackdown valuable to allow an invited speaker deliver a message. The prosecution argued the shouting-down amounts to censorship.

Professor Jarret Lovell of Cal State Fullerton finds the verdict surprising, as he believes the campus of a university should be kept a ground of trail and error.

Han Ethnics Took on The Street in Urumqi

Angry Han Ethnics took on the street in Urumqi to pretest the authority's Ostrich policy on ever intensifying terrorism activities.

Muslim Uyghur terrorists use poisoned syringes to stab random targets in public places such as in bus stations and grocery stores. Thousands of Han people had fell victims and many died at the scene. The public is angry because the communist government blocked the media coverage to paint a 'harmonic' society. The official Xinhua News only published a brief message in late night last Thursday, after months of bloody attacks on innocent people resulted in dozens of deaths. The government acknowledged 480 attacks in the past two months, citing people who went to hospital for treatment. Local residents claim the real figure of such attacks would be at least 10 times higher.

Uyghua, Chinese and the Communist Party

After the ethnic cleansing against majority Han Chinese committed by the Islamic Uyghua terrorists on July 5, 2009, it is puzzled to see the Communism government made no effort to protect its majority people from being slaughtered, but rather declared everything normal.

Chinese has its cultural established thousands of years ago, most notably 2000 years ago at the beginning of Han Dynasty when Idea of Ru (represented by ideas of Confucius). Chinese culture suggest making compromise, walking the central path between left and right. Chinese cultural advocate strict social order, while children respect parents and students respect mentors. Communism, on the other hand, was imported from abroad, and replied on extreme and radical measure to achieve its goals.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is really a communist party enslaves Chinese, rather than a party of Chinese. For the CCP, the number one challenge to its survival is the Chinese people, especially the Han Chinese majority. Knowing this is the key to decipher the unfair ethnic policy adopted by the CCP while it places the Han Chinese to the bottom of social structure. Ethnic minority could get away from any crime committed towards Han Chinese, including rape and murder.

Some western journalists were shocked once they arrived the scene of the July 5 massacre. Malcolm Moore of Telegraph had to cross out his reporting (imaginary reporting, as most other western media do) of the day before. It never occured to his mind that it could the the opposite as to what they had been told by overseas Islamic Uyghur groups, and what they have belived in for life. He wrote:

Turning over the riots in my mind, I concede I was wrong in my last post to suggest that Rebiya Kadeer (the President of the Islamic World Uyghur Congress, a Washington based terrorist organization) would rise in stature as a result of the riots.

When I wrote the post, I had limited information and I jumped to the conclusion that the 156 victims of Sunday’s violence were Uighur.

In fact, it appears that the majority of the victims were Han Chinese, brutally killed by gangs of Uighurs roaming through the back streets of Urumqi. There are some horrific pictures circulating of rows of bloodied bodies and cyclists lying in puddles of blood with their heads bashed in.

Rebiya Kadeer’s claims that 400 Uighurs were killed on Sunday were dismissed by my colleagues on the ground, who have neither seen nor heard any evidence to back up her accusation.

I apologise for running ahead of the facts, but the idea that Chinese troops had been unable to prevent the Uighurs from murdering Han Chinese honestly never occurred to me.

Now that the sequence of events is clearer, I have a lot of praise for the Chinese security operation in the city. According to Peter Foster, who is on the scene, they managed to prevent escalating situations getting out of hand several times yesterday with calm and judicious policing.

He shouldn't have been surprised, had he understood that the communism government is not a Chinese government, and had never operated in the interest of majority Chinese people. Actually, if traidational Chinese cultural and value provailed, the CCP would have been eradicated from China.

People Die, Who Cares?

All people die, who cares?

159 people died on July 5, 2009 in Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang, a western province of China. All of them a innocent civilian Chinese. Many are women. Some are kids, two years old toddlers. They were killed with stones and knifes. Pictures shown many were cut at throat, including 2 years old little girl.

People live in Urumqi say the real death toll is much higher. Most people were killed in back streets. It's an organized ethnic cleansing carried by Muslim Uyghur against Han people.

The headline news on Chinese media are TV show supergirl and the funeral of Michael Jackson.

The Top Party leader, 'core' Mr. Hu Jintao was visiting Italy. He is still in Rome as of today. The top executive officer, Premier Mr. Wen Jiabao was having meal with miners down underground. It's very important to advocate industrial safety. Among the nine members of the standing committee of politburo of CCP, none of them have said a single word on the massacre. No one, not a word.

Instead of protecting innocent people and restoring order, the Party invited foreign reporters to find out the 'truth'. The Party felt they had been wronged by the western media because they were not evil forces to crack down riot by brutality. We understand The World Uyghur Congress (WUC), a terrorist group based in and backed by the United States is behind the riot. We understand China does not want to challenge US at all cost. We still blame the communist government because to protect its people is the first and foremost duty of any government. The moment the government, or the top officials of the government do not have the ball to stand up against the brutal massacre against its people on its own territory, the government lost its legitimacy to exist.

They are, they are the evil force. They are responsible for the death of hundreds of innocent people because they did not prevent and did not protect. The families and friends of the victims care. We care. Yes, we do.

Reporter Arrested in Malaysia

A Malaysia reporter was arrested on Sept 12, 2008. Tan Hoon Cheng is a reporter of Sin Chew Daily. She reported on an official's racial remarks, and was arrested under 'the Internal Security Act (ISA)'. A popular blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin was also arrested the same day citing the ISA for being a threat to security, peace and public order. Three newspapers received 'show cause letters' issued by the Home Ministry.

A Muslim senior government official, Bukit Bendera MP Ahmad Ismail proclaimed Chinese in Malaysia were squatters. The remarks were made frequently in his recent election campaigns. After the news coverage, the ruling party Ahmad belongs suspended his membership.

ISA is a form of martial law, where police does not disclose the cause of the arrest, and a court warrant is not needed. A comparable incident in the US would be the reporter who broke out the story of Rev. Wright saying 'God Damn America' in font of Sunday morning crowd to be detailed by the FBI on terrorism charges, and then sent to a undisclosed location in Poland by CIA.

Pig Ads Banned

It was confirmed that the CCP government banned any TV commercials having 'pig' involved. The Chinese new year of 'pig' is coming this February, and the Communism government is trying to appeal to the Islamic population living in China.

What a dump idea.

From Digg:

Bill O'Reilly's probable response: "This is CLEARLY an affront on year's with names as well as China showing their support for terrorists. I think a ban of all Chinese products is in order."
