UC Davis Pepper Spray

The Seagull was so disgusted by the UC Davis incident when police officers walked to a few students who quietly sat in the quad area in protest and started spray on them.

From the calm and measured faces and paces, in a sharp contract to the students who dodge their heads in between their legs but otherwise sitting still through out the entire process, the Seagull had no doubt that had these officers given an order to shoot they would not even blink.

The Seagull will never forgive soldiers who opened fire at students in Tian'anmen Square in the early morning of June 4th, 1989. However, the incident at UC Davis showed those soldiers were not the only evils in this world.

The UC Davis police chief later claimed the police was 'cut off' and 'threatened'. With so many videos posted on Youtube, everybody could see by their own eyes whether any police was cut off or threatened in any way by any measure.

It is an even chilling moment when the UC Davis Chancellor Linda PB Katehi brushed it off, in response to the videos, as 'questions about how best to handle situations like this'. In an email to the campus, Ms. Katehi wrote: 'We deeply regret that many of the protestors today chose not to work with our campus staff and police to remove the encampment as requested. We are even more saddened by the events that subsequently transpired to facilitate their removal.'

Shame on you police, shame on you Ms. Katehi, shame on you University of California.

And watch it again, check out that smirk on his face, when University of California at Davis police officer Lt. John Pike performed his job. According to Assistant Professor Nathan Brown who was at the scene, police then pried open students' mouth with baton, then ejected pepper spray down their throats.

Professor Brown called for Ms. Katehi's resignation. A petition can be signed here.

The incident on campus at U C Davis made all the arguments of democracy pointless, when ordinary people in China see peaceful students being treated this way in the US.

I am an educator in a Chinese college. I have been teaching in Chinese colleges and universities for the past decade. In that decade, deep in the heart of one of the most brutal police states in the world, I have never, not even once, seen brutality from university and civil authorities that comes even close to what I saw from UCB and UCD in recent days.

I say this with a very strong observational foundation, I might add. In the year 2003, in the first institute I taught in (Jiujiang Institute, http://www.jju.edu.cn/), there was a full-fledged student riot—complete with massive property damage (a several hundred metre section of the school’s outer wall was torn down)—over restrictions placed on student movement during the SARS crisis. I was able to witness first-hand how the school’s authorities reacted. Despite being a well-connected official in one of the most brutally authoritarian states in the world, the president of the university went out, facing personal danger (students threw a variety of objects from their dormitory windows at him including filled thermos bottles), to *negotiate* with the students. The riots were brought back under control, tempers were cooled and the crisis brought to an end, get this, without the use of guns, chemicals, batons or even policemen.

Congratulations, America, you have actually managed to surpass China’s brutality—and make no mistake, the Chinese government is a collection of brutal thugs!—in this sphere.

Wang Qingsong

From Tian'anmen Square to Green Square

Career Revolution Leader Colonel Gaddafi talked to western media after his security forces killed hundreds of civil protesters in Libya with guns, artilleries, missiles and air bombing. The old colonel exclaimed he was following the great example of great communist leaders in China, who's tanks rolled over students protesting in Tian'anmen Square in 1989. Gaddafi was so excited, that he mentioned the Tian'anmen twice during the interview. He argued the Tian'anmen massacre united China, and determined to follow the suit if necessary. The Tian'anmen reference did not seem to be convincing enough, that the UN's security council passed a resolution to send officials who slaughter its own citizens to criminal investigation by the international court.

Well, actually, the Chinese government had always looking west for legal shield.

In the history of the United States, more than one time had the government used military forces against its own citizen.

1921, in response to coal mine workers' demand for union, President Harding sent in Army General Billy Mitchell, the father of the USAF. Miners were crushed by a combination of mine operator's private army and the US federal military forces. The would be recorded in the history when the federal air force planes were used against US citizens.

Years into the Greet Depression in 1932, World War I veterans, unemployed and hungry, petitioned in Washington, D.C. along their wifes and children for a principle payment of their bonus due in 1945. President Hoover sent active duty army in response. Commanded by General Douglas MacArthur and Major General George Pattern, the 12th Infantry and the 3rd Cavalry rolled over the protesters with support of six battle tanks.

And there was the Kent State University's shootings in 1970 at students protesting the unpopular war on campus. Four students killed by US National Guard.

From Air Force, Tanks, to Assault Rifles, the US went a long way of using more benign weapons upon its own citizens in a duration of 50 years. No wonder, regimes around the world had plenty to cite in covering their own brutalities against citizens.

Some people argued the biggest lost of the Tian'anmen Massacre was the entire generation of those born in the 1970s. Elder generations were not impacted as bad because they had gone through many, such as the Great Cultural Revolution. Younger generations simply did not know, thanks to the brainwashing by the communist Party.

Among the 1970s population, they were exhausted and desperate. Some went oversea to hide themselves away. Some retreat to a life style with no moral value, but money value.

However, every year this time, some people still try to remind the world. There was a massacre happened when government used tanks and machine guns to kill hundreds of peaceful protesting students in the heart of the capital city, Beijing.

Non-Sequitur: World Fair Surprise

Volunteers of the World Fair in Shanghai was trained to identify threats among the crowd. Detailed descriptions accompanied with vivid illustrations were offered to tell those who might be 1) Tibet Independence movement 2) Survivors of Tian'anmen massacre of 1989, and, 3) Falun Clut. The volunteers, all current college students, were surprised to hear of the massacre for the first time in their life.

'Guide to survive an earthquake' as such words: take shelter in hospitals and schools. In China, Netizens summarized after the two major earthquakes while the school buildings always collapse first, if not alone due to poor building quality, that people should look for government buildings instead, because they always stood.

In the duration of the World Fair, Internet users in Shanghai are allowed access to Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Blogspot.

Historic Waterway Blockage

The water way between Yichang and Badong was closed for the first time after the Japanese invasion in WWII by the government, so the petition groups from all over the country could not reach Badong, the crime place of the rape case of Deng Yujiao.

After being sexually assaulted and beaten by three government officials and Communist Party members, Deng stabbed one of the officials with a pedicure knife. The official and party member died later. The police, headed by a special task force directly from the Ministry of Public Safety, had charged Deng Yujiao with first degree murder, which enraged people across the entire country. Dozens groups of volunteer lawyers went to Badong from major cities to provide pro bono defense for Deng. Tens of hundreds of reporters flooded the little remote town of Sanguan, where the crime took place. In addition to mount petitions and protests in major cities, many ordinary people are rushing to Badong to show support.

Because of the geographic location, the only easily accessible path to get in and out Badong is through the waterway from Yichang. The waterway is closed by the government from May 28, 2009, so that outsider couldn't come. This is the second time in Chinese history this particular waterway was closed, after the anti-Japanese invasion war in WWII.

For Communists Party, the ordinary Chinese people are their worse enemy than Japanese imperial army. On the other hand, the Deng case was a perfect case to draw people's attention away from the 20 years anniversaries of the Tian'anmen Massacre. Ironically, the CCP government determined that the regime could only be saved by pigs and rapists.

Swine Flu Enlisted Memory Dampening Agent

The swine flu has been enlisted by the Chinese Communist Party to blockade any memory of the 20 anniversaries of the Tian'anmen Massacre on June 4th.

Swine flu has been occupying every front pages of major newspapers, and jammed every channel of broadcast. Individuals in China is feeling the horror of dying from the terminator flu in a virtual reality created by the propaganda department. So far this has been very successful, but only time will tell how long will the force last. Every physicist knows that it demands extraordinary energy supply to support the virtual reality environment of this scale.

After twenty years of non-stop brain washing, the newer generation in China had little opportunity of knowing what happened on Tian'anmen Square in 1989. A few years early Harvard asked 5 of its incoming graduate students from China about the Tian'anmen Massacre, only one of them have heard of the mentioning of the term somewhere. Two years ago, a local newspaper in Chongqing was suspended because it published a paid commercial which 'solute to mothers of June 4 victims'. The youngeditor confessed that he though 'June 4th' was referring to a mine accident.

Exaggerating the flu made mainland Chinese not only unwelcoming any visitors from abroad, but also are more eager to report any suspicious persons not from local community.
