Diaoyu Islands

Diaoyu Islands are a cluster of tiny islands in eastern Pacific close to Taiwan, between China and Japan. Historically, Diaoyu Islands were part of China, but taken by Japan in the late nineteen century. The island was to be returned to China per truce treaty of the WWII. However, while the then Chinese government was entangled in civil war, the US occupancy kept it as a navy target field. The island was somehow, with no specific reason, turned over to Japan in the 1960s. At the time, the mainland was in the middle of the unprecedented Great Cultural Revolution, and the Taiwan was unsettled after relocating from the mainland. Neither side paid much attention until a few years later.

Although disappointed, Taiwan did not have courage and motivation to challenge arrangement made between the US and Japan. Taiwan itself had been occupied by Japan for decades. Many Taiwan people still have complicated feeling towards that period of history, when Taiwan is ruled as part of Japan, rather than as a colony. The first elected President Li Denghui had his brother fought the WWII in Japanese Imperial Army. On the other hand, Taiwan relies on US's protection against China's military threats. Still, Taiwan made some gestures to show its claim over the island. When fishermen from mainland were harassed by Japanese Coast Guard, Taiwan vowed to face off Japan with its navy, and it did.

The Communist government on the mainland is less enthusiastic for a number of reasons. By definition, the communism movement does not recognize the boundary of countries, even boundary of families (to be elaborated at another time). Throughout the history of the Chinese Communist Party, there had been abundant cases when they 'proudly' placed the interests of the Party above the interests of the country. For example, when then Chinese government was at war with the USSR, in China, over the control of a railroad, the CCP asked its members to attack Chinese government to aide USSR. In another example, to appease leaders of North Korea, China gave a large piece of land to them, so their dear leader can claim home to a scenic mountain.

Handing of the Diaoyu Island was no exception to the CCP's tradition. Afraid the US might return the island to China (Taiwan), the CCP's official mouthpiece People's Daily issued an editorial urging the US to give the island to Japan. In the article, scholars loyal to the party made every argument to prove that the island belongs to Japan, not China.

Although Chinese governments on both sides of the Strait could care less, grassroots efforts never stopped. As a matter of fact, the current Taiwan President Mr. Ma Yingjiu was a devoted activist in Diayu Island claim when he was young. A few days ago, a group of advocates sailed from Hong Kong in a rental fishing boat. The group broke through embargoes by Japanese Coast Guards, and landed on the island before being arrested by Japanese police.

Large scale of anti-Japan protest broke in China. In some places it turned violence, while stores selling Japanese goods were vandalized, and Japanese brand cars were destroyed. A white BMW with Beijing license and an black Audi with Anhui license forced the ambassador of Japan's convey to stop in Beijing, and took away the Japanese flag on his car.

Once again, the communist government on mainland told Chinese people, it's better to leave the Diaoyu Island in Japan's hand. Official mouthpiece Global Times issued an editorial authored by Han Xiaoqing, the chief representative of People's Daily in Japan, declared the 'Protecting Diaoyu Island' movement was anti-government, thus anti-China.

The backdrop of current soften stand of the CCP was the timing. The CCP is expected to hold its 18th National Party Convention this fall, postponed from summer because of fallout of senior official Wang Lijun's defection to the US. The once-in-a-decade power transfer means everything to Party officials, and nobody wants a distraction from any direction.

China's Top Party School

'Party School' has different meaning in China, where the only Party is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Qinghua University celebrated its one hundred years anniversary last week. Some Chinese Netizens mocked the Qinghua a fake school, because the real Tsinghua University moved to Taiwan before the Communist party took over the government in 1949. Nonetheless, nobody can dispute that Qinghua is a top school, along Beijing University and few others of China, a country with 1.3 Billion population, known for highly motivated students in science and engineering.

Without citing official numbers, it's safe to say Qinghua University produced the most engineers and government officials for the communist China. A Qinghua admission equates to guarranteed positions in government agencies, the most coveted career in China. Since Qinghua's alum are in control of every level of government, it is said if a Qinghua graduated committed a murder, he would never be convicted because even prosecutors and judges are Qinghua alum, who are known for taking care of their peers.

Zhou ziqi is the founding president of Qinghua University. During the Great Cultural Revolution, Red Guards of Qinghua chopped his wife's head off, while forcing his daughter watching in the same room. His daughter went insane. This history has been censored when the authority realized it does not fare well to promote Qinghua as a first class world leading university. Many people heard of it the first time when Zhou's grandson mentioned it in his microblog. Hu Jintao, among most other senior communist officials also graduated from Qinghua. Hu was a Red Guard too at the time when Zhou's wife was decapitated. Hu joined '4/14', one of five major Red Guards cults who controlled the university at the time.

Hu congratulated Qinghau last week. However, many people believe Qinghua's life as a university had been chopped off during the Cultural Revolution. Many find it ironic to see Hu among others who were responsible for converting Qinghua University into a Party School celebrating its 100th anniversary.

A traditional Chinese slogan is 'Sacrifice for the Nation'. This slogan has motivated millions of Chinese in thousands of years to stood up against foreign aggression to defend the motherland. The slogan of Qinghua University is 'Sacrifice for the Party'. Each year, thousands of Qinghua graduates walked out the campus in Beijing, dedicated themselves to the ruling of Communists Party.

Quotes

Min Weifang, the Party Boss of Beijing University, stated, 'we would absolutely forbid professors from spreading unauthorized ideas' on March 2, 2004.

Professors in several universities were turned in by their students for making comments not in line with Party policies.

Liu Jianchao, then Director-General of the Press and Media Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "(When the CCP) makes a law, (they) will spell out what can do by whom. What the law did not mandate, should not be performed. It is a simple logic. We do not need to write you can not do in the law." On the Foreign Ministry's news press in October, 2008.

Several foreign journalists were detained when reporting in a busy commercial mall on Sunday February 27.

Wen Jiabao, the Chinese premier said (regarding real estate developers, 'I did not investigate your profit margin, but I think as a member of the society, you should take the corresponding social responsibility. Your body should also be circulating blood of morality.' Wen made the comment when chatting with netizens online on Feb 27,2011.

Ren Zhiqiang, a top developer replied via micro-blog minutes later, 'Mr. Wen thought everybody lacked morality because he himself lacked it.' Ren has been known for his big-mouth and cold-blood. However, Wen's remark on real estate developers were widely criticized as transferring attention from government monopoly and official corruptions which were the root of high housing price in China.

Jiang Yu, the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told reporters 'do not cite law as your shield', when asked why foreign journalists were detained even though they had been abiding by Chinese law and guidance on March 3, 2011.

Jiang, a single mom, was known for her strong anti-Japanese sentiment. However, she was seen in photos frequenting Japanese fashion stores.

Beijing Ordered Grade School Students Solute the Party's Flag

The Seagull had heard of this for awhile, but thought it a, rumor. Even in the darkest days, never had elementary school students to regularly solute the Party Flag. Even Chinese people who had been used to live under the heavy hand Big Brother were shocked in disbelieve, Aha.... It is like living a surreal dream in real time, standing on top of tower, and you knew the next moment the tower would fall, but you could do nothing about it, as you knew, and so you stood there, and 'Aha'..

Beijing issued an order, effectively immediately until October, on the first Monday of each month, students of elementary, middle and high schools must rally to solute the Party's flag.

You felt the chill up the spine, and you taste the dryness behind the tongue. You can't close your eyes although you are not looking, and you can't close your mouth although you can't make a sound.

Hubei's Tough Chief Promoted

Hubei Governmenor Li Hongzhong, who made name when grabbing a female reporter during a press conference at the National Congress in March 2010, was rewarded with a promotion to the Party Chief of Hubei Province, announced the CCP today.

Why the Hell Are You so Soft?

Chinese, Japanese and Koreans and Russians around the world are amazed at the CCP's soft stance against Japan's aggression in Diaoyu Island.

Diaoyu Island is historically an offshore island under Taiwan's jurisdiction. It was took over by Japan, and at the end of WWII was transferred to the US military, and had been used as a targeting proof ground. Although the US had promised to return it to China, which means ROC or Taiwan at the time, they instead transferred jurisdiction of the island to Japan in 1972, without transferring ownership. In the past 40 years or so, both Taiwan and Japan claimed ownership, and it had been handled as a disputed territory by both. Although pro trolling the area with fishery agencies, Japan had refrained itself from actual landing on the island of 6.7 square miles, and prohibited any Japanese private citizen to access the island. The government of Taiwan also avoided confrontation with Japanese officials, but claimed full territorial claim on the island. The current ROC/Taiwan President, Mr. Ma Ying-jeou was an activist of campaign of Keeping Diaoyutai Island. In 2008, when a Taiwan fishery boat was sunk after a coalition with Japanese official ships, he ordered Taiwan official ships to a standoff with Japanese official ships.

The Communism China, on the other hand, had been absent from the scene for a large part of the dispute until recently. Prior to the handover in 1972, the CCP government was afraid US would return the island to Taiwan, its political rival. Therefore, the CCP argued extensively that the island should belong to Japan, a rare sympathizer of the regime at the time. Entering 21 century, with increasing naval and air military strength and growing economics appetite, Beijing quietly joined the choir of claiming sovereignty over the island. Indeed, without the island, China will loose hundreds of thousands square miles of water territory. Equally important, Chinese navy, submarines in particular will loose the only path to the Pacific. Not willing to make a scene, China also restraint itself from alerting the Japanese by actual accessing the island. The Chinese government counts on the dispute could be dragged on to the next millennium and resolved by itself by then with China's ever growing military might.

While all government imposed self constraint, the water around the island had been relative clam in the past, until the climax of last week, when Japanese officials arrested a Chinese fishing boat captain on criminal charges. And this is seen a no-return point. The captain was sentenced to a 10 days jail time, but the significance is that or the first time in history, Japanese government applied civil code and claimed sovereignty in addition to jurisdiction rights.

As expected by the Japan government, CCP backed off.

What many Chinese people around the globe do not understand is that CCP has always placed the interest of the Party on top of everything else, including the sovereignty of the country and welfare being of the people. When the Chinese government (ROC by then) took over the Middle-East Railroad from USSR in 1929, CCP announced its military and political forces would 'defend USSR by force', even though it was USSR who occupied Chinese territory in Northeast. While the Communist Party leader of North Korea begged for a couple of mountains on the Chinese-Korea border for propaganda purpose, the CCP redrew the border to Korea's satisfaction in a matter of days. When KMT troops hided out in a disputed area along China and Burma, CCP disavowed the area so that Burma military could attack the Chinese troops.

For CCP, the Party's interest is the No. 1 priority and the only essential interest. Everything else could be sacrificed for the sake of the survival of the Party. Knowing this helps to understand why the CCP is avoiding any serious conflict internationally at all cost.

In other country, a mishandling of a potentially explosive evident may leads to the crash of a government. In China, it could threaten the ruling of the Party. That's why the CCP has been soft on not only Japan, but also Korea, and Vietnam, Philippine, etc., etc.

For the interest of the Chinese, and of the country, CCP must go, one way or another.

China Never Short of Talents

Xiong Dazhen, 1913-1939, joined the Communism military to defend motherland against Japan after the war broke out. He was named the Equipment Chief of the Central-North District. Xiong recruited over 100 students and faculty of Qinghua University to design and build weapons and ammunitions. One year later, all of them were charged as spies. Xiong was sentenced to death. To save a bullet, a piece stone was used repeatedly to crack open Xiong's head.

Xiong took an infrared panorama picture (of the city of Beijing) when he was a student at Qinghua University. It was the first infrared picture of China. After graduated in 1935, he stayed at Qinghua University to continue his research in infrared photography. He was awarded a scholarship to pursue graduate degree in Germany in 1937, when Beijing fell to Japanese military. Xiong canceled his trip to Europe to fight the Japs.

The CCP never hesitated in killing talents, regardless talents in science, literature, military, or, Communism.

In contrary, the KMT often put talents above ideology. Many known Communism believers work in the central of KMT regime. Many top KMT officials were later revealed as CCP spies. Most of them were let go (abroad) even after their true identities had been discovered. In the end, KMT lost the mainland, and fled to the Island of Taiwan.

As a side note, almost all Chinese Nobel Laureates were educated under the KMT system; none of them came out of the mainland education system. But does it matter? Mainland is a mighty power in Eastern Asia. Taiwan is only to keep its independent status due to the US's military support.

Why HU is not a great ruler

Hu Jintao is not a terrible ruler. How can he be? Although relatively young for his supreme position, Hu had gone through the most rigorous Party training and raised to the top, on the way passing many veteran communists with seniority rankings. Hu is careful not to make any of the political enemies uncomfortable in the long time, more than 10 years, in the waiting room of absolute power.

However, hu is nothing but a young old time Party member. Under his regime, preluded by promise to build a 'harmonic' society, ordinary Chinese people lost many of the little freedom tolerated or overlooked by the CCP for years. Any 'unharmonious' voice is censored, and the person silences, usually by jailing behind bars. It looks Hu attempted to bring back the country 50 years back to the hight of the communism utopia (as described in official publications), but obviously Hu does not have any political cloud to achieve that, unless Chairman Mao.

Hu is the leader of the gang of Communist Youth League (CYL), a peripheral organization of CCP for youth. Every Chinese knows gangs of Communist Youth League with first hand experience. In universities, only students with bad grades cling to posts of CYL, because that's the only way they can use to bargain for a good job upon graduation. Students with good grades, or strong family background, or social connections all care less about the CYL. In a sense, the CYL produces the exclusive career bureaucratic whose natural instinct is avoid trouble by all cost. That partially explained Hu's expertise in keeping a low profile.

Being Cynical

People outside of China often puzzled at the cynicism attitude among elite Chinese. Indeed, it is not only an essence on issues of political significance, but abundant in trivial daily life. For example, many many years ago, faculty dinning room of Beijing University sold two kinds of buns, one made with regular (dark) wheat flour, and the other kind with bleached flour. The official name of the two, as referred to in the rest of the China, would be 'regular' and 'enriched'. However, intellectuals of the University rather used disparaged words, such as 'black' and 'white', and later 'pay-more', and 'not-pay-more' (the cultural backdrop: mentioning anything about money is historically despited for intellectuals). In another example, though many enthusiastically supported the student democratic demonstration on the Tian'anmen Square in 1989, once the military rolled tanks into Beijing, few dared murmur any objections. Quietly, on basketball fields on campus, a referee would proclaim 'martial law' in lieu of 'time-out'. They called the attention that they recognized the situation, without expressing an opinion of any.

What are the cowards afraid of? People living outside China often fail to understand that you could be throw into jail or killed even on a trivial gesture.

It couldn't be more clear from the threatens issued after the 1989 incident. The CCP claimed millions of communists sacrificed their lives in the wars and fights to established the current regime, therefore, if any students or anyone else wants to over throw the government, the CCP will behead ten million people first. (The logic was actually disputed by a number of old generation communists years later, where they argued, those who sacrificed their lives did that for a hope of a country where enjoy their lives, unlike the situation of current regime)

Even if you were not against the government, and even if it were a misunderstanding, you and your family could be ruined and buried forever. The communism enforces their rule by crushing any challengers mercilessly. It is also a highly efficient mechanism which always entices more followers by offering huge incentives and covering for their well beings with no limit.

With the knowledge, it's easier to decipher the behavior of elite of Chinese intellectuals after the Governor of Hubei grabbed a young female reporter and confiscated her recording pen at the National People's Congress in front of hundreds of other reporters.

Five days after the incident, many posters are praising the governor, while felt lucky for the reporter. The mainstream voice is that the reporter should count her blessing because had it happened in Hubei Province, she wouldn't have been able to walk out alive. Many expressed sympathy on the governor because had it happened in Hubei, police, military or even security would have handled the interruption perfectly for him. An untamed reporter would not even be able to get close to him within a 10 miles perimeters. The elite spread the incident at first time to check out the political wind. When they sensed the central government could care less even though it happened at the biggest annual political show stage, they backed from their initial demand of apology.

Blacklist Whitelist

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the Communist Party announced on a conference held in Beijing on Dec 16, 2009 that the entire overseas Internet would be blocked. Instead of past practice of using a blacklist (on the list: Flickr, YouTube, Picasa, Wikipedia, Blogger, Twitter, to name a few) to filter out unhealthy information, a whitelist will be used to allow only selected sites going through the Great FireWall (GFW). Overseas websites must file a record to be white-listed.

The measure is hailed a critical step to protect our children from harmful information such as pornography and gambling, and to shield adult Internet surfers from junk EMails and computer viruses.

Uyghua, Chinese and the Communist Party

After the ethnic cleansing against majority Han Chinese committed by the Islamic Uyghua terrorists on July 5, 2009, it is puzzled to see the Communism government made no effort to protect its majority people from being slaughtered, but rather declared everything normal.

Chinese has its cultural established thousands of years ago, most notably 2000 years ago at the beginning of Han Dynasty when Idea of Ru （represented by ideas of Confucius). Chinese culture suggest making compromise, walking the central path between left and right. Chinese cultural advocate strict social order, while children respect parents and students respect mentors. Communism, on the other hand, was imported from abroad, and replied on extreme and radical measure to achieve its goals.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is really a communist party enslaves Chinese, rather than a party of Chinese. For the CCP, the number one challenge to its survival is the Chinese people, especially the Han Chinese majority. Knowing this is the key to decipher the unfair ethnic policy adopted by the CCP while it places the Han Chinese to the bottom of social structure. Ethnic minority could get away from any crime committed towards Han Chinese, including rape and murder.

Some western journalists were shocked once they arrived the scene of the July 5 massacre. Malcolm Moore of Telegraph had to cross out his reporting (imaginary reporting, as most other western media do) of the day before. It never occured to his mind that it could the the opposite as to what they had been told by overseas Islamic Uyghur groups, and what they have belived in for life. He wrote:

Turning over the riots in my mind, I concede I was wrong in my last post to suggest that Rebiya Kadeer (the President of the Islamic World Uyghur Congress, a Washington based terrorist organization) would rise in stature as a result of the riots.

When I wrote the post, I had limited information and I jumped to the conclusion that the 156 victims of Sunday’s violence were Uighur.

In fact, it appears that the majority of the victims were Han Chinese, brutally killed by gangs of Uighurs roaming through the back streets of Urumqi. There are some horrific pictures circulating of rows of bloodied bodies and cyclists lying in puddles of blood with their heads bashed in.

Rebiya Kadeer’s claims that 400 Uighurs were killed on Sunday were dismissed by my colleagues on the ground, who have neither seen nor heard any evidence to back up her accusation.

I apologise for running ahead of the facts, but the idea that Chinese troops had been unable to prevent the Uighurs from murdering Han Chinese honestly never occurred to me.

Now that the sequence of events is clearer, I have a lot of praise for the Chinese security operation in the city. According to Peter Foster, who is on the scene, they managed to prevent escalating situations getting out of hand several times yesterday with calm and judicious policing.

He shouldn't have been surprised, had he understood that the communism government is not a Chinese government, and had never operated in the interest of majority Chinese people. Actually, if traidational Chinese cultural and value provailed, the CCP would have been eradicated from China.

Lawyers Dismissed

Two pro bono lawyers broke into tears at a press conference after they met Deng Yujiao, the 21 years old who killed a communist party official when she was attacked by three of them.

Lawyer Xia Lin told reporters that he had obtained direct evidence of the crime on Deng's bra and underwear. Xia also appealed publicly to his alma mater, The Southwestern Law School a prominent law school, to step in this apparent injustice case.

In an following up interview with the South Metropolitan Daily, the director of the police bureau of the Badong County, Mr. Yang Liyong stated police had no interest in examining the evidence presented by the lawyers.

On May 22, 2009, the Badong County news conference said the two lawyers violated laws by disclosing information after meeting Deng Yujiao. The only clause in current law against leaking information is about national secret. The badong County government is telling the world that the rape case has been escalated to national secret.

The dismissal of the two lawyers was full of drama. The government announced the two lawyers were fired by Deng's mother in the press conference in the morning. The two lawyers were then contacted by Deng's mother, who was surprised by the news. Deng's mother told other media she didn't fire the lawyers and she did not knew what happened. Then Deng's mother was abducted by the government for a few hours. After being released in the afternoon, Deng's mother told the media she had fired the two lawyers. The two lawyers were dismissed subsequently. Deng's mother was reportedly placed under control of the police. In a similar case in Shanghai, Yang Jia's mother was placed in a mental facility for six months. Without delay, two local lawyers contracted by the local government was hired by Deng's mother to represent Deng Yujiao.

However, until today, Deng's mother hasn't officially fired the two lawyers from Beijing. Legally speaking, the two new lawyers had already violated the 'Act of Lawyers' for knowing signing on the case before the original lawyers were terminated. The two 'bad guys' here are Wang Shaopeng and Liu Gang. Both Wang and Liu made their fortune by representing corrupted officials in bribery cases.

The State Council News Office informed news websites and portals, they should immediately 'cool down' the coverage of the Deng Yujiao case. Specifically, related news should not be placed on the first page or headline area. Only the official New China (Xinhua Agency)'s article could be posted. Readers' comments must be controlled, and approved case by case. All information about grassroots 'open letter', 'petition', 'invite for participation' about this case should be deleted. Any attacks to the Dear Party and the government and communist justice system, advocate to democracy, human rights, should be deleted.

New Official Account of The China's Great Famine

Yuan Longping told reporters of Guangzhou Daily 40 to 50 millions of Chinese starved to death in the Great Famine in the year of 1959. Yuan revealed the figure when he was interviewed for national food safety situation.

Many figures had been suggested by independent researchers on exactly how many Chinese was killed by the Great Famine. One most cited study derived from population variations estimated around 36 millions Chinese were starved to death from 1959 to 1962, following the failed Great Leap Forward in 1958. The official number had been somewhere from 10 thousands to 100 thousands. This is the first time ever the 'official' number was close to those based on independent studies. The subject has been a taboo because it is believed the cause of the famine was not natural disasters but police mistakes of the CCP.

Mr. Yuan is an agricultural expert, an academician, and the top scientist of China.

Ontogeny Recapitulates Phylogeny

Contrary to text book education in China, people have been enjoying a great deal of freedom in terms of political and democratic movement in 'old China'. However, it went downhill when the then ruling Nationalist Party kMD was losing the military competitions to the CCP. Desperate KMD tried to dictate what people could say by using terror. It was highlighted when outspoken professor were publicly assaulted and beaten by mobs hired by the KMD. Professor Li Gongpu was assassinated by KMD security forces on July 11, 1946. Professor Wen Yiduo condemned the killing in a public memorial on July 15, 1946. KMD responded by assassinated Professor Wen on the same day. However, as ancient Chinese said, what use does it make to threaten people with death when they are not afraid of death? Soon KMD lost the mainland to CCP.

Professor Sun Wenguang of Shangdong University was assaulted and beaten by mobs hired by communism police in public, with uniformed police standing by. If the communism party expects this can deter the people, they should re-read history.

April 5th is a traditional Chinese holiday (Qingming) to pay tribune to dead people. Professor had planned to went to a cemetery to remember former Chinese premier Zhao Ziyang, who lost power in the political struggle on the backdrop of the Tian'anmen Square Massacre in 1989. The leader of Shangdong University and local police warned Professor Sun not to leave home on the day. Professor Sun went ahead anyway, with four uniformed police officer following. When they arrived at the cemetery, a group of mobs emerged and beat Professor in front of the police. Professor Sun had three bones broken. The mob orderly dispersed into crowds after committing the violence in daytime, in a heavy pedestrian traffic park. Because of the presence of the uniformed police, no ordinary citizen were able to help as they did not understand what was happening.

Silicun (Mile Four Village) Police Station told a reporter of Voice of America that the incident was under police investigation. The officer denied any political motivation behind the violence.

Seventy five years old Professor Sun is a physicist of Shangdong University.

The Order Came from the Highest Level

Chen told the Beijing Music Radio that the order to switch girls were from the highest level, a communism politburo member, 3 days before the opening night, after the last formal rehearsal. Comparing this with news report at the time, the 'politburo member' is Mr. Xi Jinping. Son of Mr. Xi Zhongxun, an senior communism official. Mr. Xi Jinping has been set to replace Mr. Hu Jintao to be the next 'core' of the CCP leadership.

It'll be interesting to see on which scale this unnecessarily stupid act may cost Xi's potential to be the next 'core' of China.

Who Owns Information

Civil rights activist Mr. Huang Qi was arrested by police on June 10, 2008. Mr. Huang together wish another volunteer was helping the earthquake disaster relief when both were arrested. According to the volunteer who was released a few days later, police questioned him specifically on their investigation of the poor building quality of public schools.

Huang's wife went to the Bureau of Public Safety of Wuhou, Chengdu to inquire the condition of Huang. She was showed a warrant for "Illegal Procession of National Secret". This is about Huang's visiting of victim families connected to collapsed school buildings.

There had been many cases of people arrested for 'Leaking National Secret'. With a broach definition of 'national secret', one could be thrown into jail for mailing a newspaper, or an openly published book. Still, those are about something written or compiled by someone else, even after they were put into public domain. It's often ridiculous to say a newspaper is national secret, but still often, the prosecution will claim that they see it as a national secret. In this case, however, none of such 'published' or 'compiled' materials exists. The said 'national secret' is the numbers and cases Mr. Huang collected from victims' families. There is no leakage either, since Mr. Huang had not had a chance to put this onto his personal website. Therefore, the alleged crime "Illegal Procession" of national secret makes you chill.

Refugees Assulted After Questioning Relief Supplies

An 70 years old lady was beaten when she questioned a group of people on apparent misuse of relief supplies. On May 20, 2008, a group of people were witnessed partying in a relief tent on the May First Square of Mianyang. When an old lady approached and questioned the source of the tent, several guys beat the old lady, and assaulted by-passers who denounced the brutality. Soon hundreds of refugees who had been camping on the square surrounded the mobs and blocked their way out. The mobs were able to leave only with local police escort.

The Chinese government had vowed to keep track of the relief donations and supplies. However, every time a misuse of relief supply case surfaced, the government would claim it couldn't found those thefts involved. This time the government would have no excuse because the alerted Chinese Netizens had dug out the name and address of one of the crooks. The world will watch want would happen, which is the real metric of whether the Chinese government back up its big mouth with real action.

There is no excuse if the police can't locate the crook. The name on the registration of the car left behind by one of the mobs was Fan Xiaohua, his address is 4-5-8, 208 Huayuanzhong Rd, Zhongba Township, Jiangyou. The license plate of the car was Chuan-BD3732.

Another donated tent stolen, and another innocent people beaten by party officials for questioning their behavior. Ten days had passed, and now, the world is watching.

Media Censured for Revealing Corruption in Quake Relief

The manager of the Chengdu Business Daily (Chengdu Shang Bao)'s Search-All (Quan Sou) web was fired, and the Chengdu Media Group was censured after the website revealed corruptions in the relief operation, notably donated tents on black markets. The CCP's propaganda department issued three memos today to news media to prohibit any negative coverage of the relief operation. Any offense will be punished with zero tolerance.

看过这样一个故事。一个善于奔跑跳跃的野生羊群，被猎人们逼上了崖顶，前面是峭壁，回头是猎人的猎枪。从崖顶到对面的山峰，是任何一个最强壮的公羊也无法跳过去的。猎手们安逸地欣赏着这些即将到手的战利品，羊群经过短暂的骚动复归平静。惊人的一幕发生了，羊群里的羊自己组合，两两搭配，一只大公羊配一只小羊，或一只强壮的公羊与一只母羊结合，一对对先后向对面无法企及的山峰跳跃过去，当大公羊跃到最远的极限，正下坠落时，与它一起跳跃的小羊或母羊，以它脊背为踏板，猛力蹬踏，再度跃起，跳到山崖对面的山峰。而那只作为跳板的，自我牺牲，摔到崖下尸骨无存。一些小羊和母羊逃脱而生存，一个生命群落得以延续。

一个物种要延续他的生命，都知道保护他孩子的生命。类似的例子，在动物界数不胜数，当家牛群遇到狼群的围攻时，牛群会摆一个圆形的战阵，最外是年轻的公牛，用牛角与狼战斗，里一层是母牛，最里面是他们的孩子。蚁群过河时，用自己的身体勾连成一个中空的球体，中空里是它们刻意保护的幼蚁。种群、族群，都是通过这种牺牲、保护而延绵不绝。

有部美国人拍的二战影片，说的是一队纳粹敢死队化装成美国盟军，深入到盟军腹地执行特殊任务。他们在驻地与当地人和睦共处，有个驻地的小男孩不慎掉进了水槽，眼看就要被转动的水车给绞死。一个年轻的纳粹队员跳下水槽救起了那个小男孩，自己却死了，而且被水车绞烂了外面盟军的军服，露出里面的纳粹服装，暴露了身份，整个行动也前功尽弃。保护和拯救弱小生命，是人类的共性。即使是纳粹军人，也保持了基本的人性没有完全泯灭。作为敌对方的美国，也没有漠视和抹杀个别纳粹军人的人的本性。

在这次川北地震中，我们看到了闪光的人性。有老师用脊梁保护四个学生的生命，也有一对父母以身体为屏障保护自己三岁的孩子，还有更多的救援人员和解放军战士日夜不停地搜救废墟下有可能活着的孩子。那些埋在废墟下的孩子牵动着我们的心，那些搜救人员感动着我们，使我泪溢眼眶。我擦拭溢出的泪水，情愿以后再也不用为救援人员和解放军战士感动；情愿以后不再为学生们、孩子们的生命而揪心。

"再穷不能穷教育，再苦不能苦孩子"这句口号已经喊了几十年。我不知道这是一句陈述句、还是知耻后勇的表决心、或者是无法企及的理想。但我决不敢怀疑是执政者自我讽刺的单口相声。然而，阜阳市一个区政府建了一个媲美白宫的政府大楼，却把一所学校拆毁搬迁至危房上课，并乞求日本的国际组织捐助建校办教育。其实不穷，却自己豪奢置仍是孩子的学生于危险，既穷了教育更苦了孩子。一句喊了几十年的口号成了尖刻的讽刺，不将讽刺当羞辱，却用来遮羞，我认为这样的执政者是一个族群的瘟疫。

多年前，在克拉玛依，一句"让领导先走，"使300多个鲜活的孩子瞬间葬身火海，执政的领导们安然无恙，事后还是安然无恙。一个不懂得保护自己的同类、幼小生命的群体是没有希望的。他们不如某些纳粹、不如牛羊、甚至不如虫蚁。他们给这个族群带来的，将会是灾难性的后果。

川北地震，倒塌的学校有：四川都江堰市聚源中学、都江堰市向峨乡中学、重庆市梁平县文化镇一小学、重庆市梁平县礼让镇中心小学、文化镇小学教学楼、德阳市实古镇中心小学、莹华镇中心小学和中学、八角镇中心小学、洛水镇中心小学。而政府大楼依然耸立。我没有让政府人员陪死的恶意，只是不解，为什么在同一个城市，都经过设计、建筑、监理的程序；都使用同一片蓝天下的水泥、钢筋和砖块，学校的教学楼偏偏就塌成了废墟，而政府大楼却高傲地耸立。

不可否认，政府大楼的设计者、建设者和监理人员都不是政府人员，大楼决不是执政者一砖一瓦建起来的。教学楼同样也不是政府人员更不是老师和学生设计、建设和监理的。政府大楼和教学楼全由专业人员完成，这些专业人员完成了会塌的教学楼和坚挺的政府大楼。这--，才是最可怕的。一个民族、一个种群，从根本上漠视延续这个民族和种群后代的生命，这个民族和种群离他消亡不会太远。

依然耸立的政府大楼，无疑是他们最后的坟墓。可怕而又无奈，很可能将会是我们亲手建立起来的、埋葬我们民族的坟墓。

Who is Jiang Guohua, and Why He Must Be Shot NOW

Jiang Guohua is the CCP Party Boss of Mianzhu, a Sichuan City 100 kilometers from the center of the earthquake. Tens of thousands of people in Mianzhu did not die of the the earthquake, but die of victim of Jiang's personal political aspiration. One minute Jiang hold the Party boss position, hundreds more people are dying under rubbles in Mianzhu.

Unlike Wenchuan which sits deeply in mountains, with all roads towards outside blocked by collapsed mountains and landslides, Mianzhu is within easy access to the outside. Had the reality been told to the upper level decision makers, most if not all of the sixty thousands people burried in Mianzhu could have been saved.

Right after the earthquake happened, when the central government was collecting information on the damage, Jiang Guohua told the central government that there was little damage in his city Mianzhu. Now we know as a fact Mianzhu had the most people buried by the earthquake but too late. For more than 2 days, no rescue team or resource had been directed to Mianzhu. Two days later, many towns and villages in Mianzhu still hadn't been reached.

Many devastated Mianzhu people use Internet to unveil the desperate situation of Mianzhu and called for emergent help. When finally Mianzhu's situation was known, Jiang Guohua rushed to announce victory of the rescue mission and instructed immediate suspension of rescue effort, and start of burying bodies. In name of preventing disease, he ordered all bodies would be buried without any delay to be ID-ed. Jiang made a wrong bet at the beginning, now Jiang wish the truth to be buried forever.

The problem is there are still thousands of people buried under rubbles. To be exact, there are still sixty thousands people buried. Merely 70 hours after the earthquake happened, and less than 12 hours after mass rescue effort had been launched in Mianzhu, Jiang's order to suspend rescue is nothing less than mass murdering.

For whatever reason, traditionally and historically the CCP tends to cover whatever they deem 'negative'. It may not even be their fault, or that they are doing a poor job. They just can't take any criticism and they automatically assume any criticism is harmful to their ruling. Sixty years after they took over the control of China, they still prefer ruling in a secret manner whenever possible. After the SARS incident, the national leadership began to see the benefit of transparency and at time make use of it. It's obvious that the central government has improved a lot in the rescue operation, but some local level Party bosses just can't learn. Sadly, even after the central government has the facts straight, the lower level officials are never punished. On one hand, this kind of 'shadow' is considered as damaging to the overall image of the CCP. On the other hand, there is always a need of dirty jobs. If not now, maybe tomorrow.

We can get along but not at this time, when tens or maybe hundreds are dying at every minute.

Jiang should be shot in public as a warning to all corrupted CCP officials who takes their political aspiration over people's lives. He must be shot NOW, to save sixty thousands Mianzhu people's lives. Tomorrow would have been too late!!!!!!!!!
