It has long known that westerns receive priority treatment before native citizens, and license to kill wild animals under legal protection is yet another new item on the list.
The National Bureau of Forest announced that the first auction for license to kill under-protection wild animals will be held in Chengdu on August 13, 2006. Only foreigners will be allowed to place a bid.
The animals to be killed are wild yak, argali and red deer among others. If a Chinese were found killing them, he would be shot on the scene, as many had been.
