The No. 1 Chinese news portal Sina.com carried an article of Australia Daily, suggesting the swine flu may originate in Changle and Fuqing of Fujian. Hundreds of rotten pigs were seen floating in the river as long as more than half month. However, the veterinary station of the town Mr. Wu stated that there was no records of any swine flu cases in pigs.
The article stated the swine flu in Mexico could have originated from Fujian without giving specific reasoning.
Rather, it should be named by convention, in the place it was firstly identified. In this case, New York Flu could be a more scientific name, or maybe Austin Flu.

Ninety thousands people were killed in the earthquake. However, an alarming disproportional of them are school age children. In many villages and towns far away from the center of the quake, school buildings are the only buildings to collapse. Volunteers and international rescue teams entered the disaster area reported unacceptable design and construction materials in schools. Many parents are angry and demand an investigation into the quality of school buildings.
Professors from Qinghua University advised the Sichuan government that the investigation was not necessary. Professors of Qinghua University who are involved in making this decision are: Chief Engineer Liu Fengge (刘凤阁), Deputy Chief Engineer Ma Baomin (马宝民), He Xiaogang (贺小岗) among others.
The Seagull prays to God: May Qinghua University be buried and rotten in Hell. May Qinghua University Professors live in ever collapsing buildings in Hell. May family and kids of Qinghua University professors live in buildings erected by the same villains.
Professor and Director of Forensic Department of Beijing University Mr. Sun Dongdong claimed that more than 99% of appellants who came to Beijing to appeal wrongdoings of local courts and governments were insane, and that the best treatment was to lock them up in mental facilities.
Police of Haidian District where the Beijing University is located were instructed to look for appellants and detain them. The instruction specifically ask local police stations not to supply lunch to detailed appellants before transferring them to metropolitan level concentration camps in Majialou, Beijing.

According to a loosely organized group of missing parents who are actively looking for their kids, more than 1000 children had been abducted since year 2007 in the city of Dongguan, and more than 500 happened in 2008 alone. Many were taken away from their mother's arms by force in public. In one day October 18, 2008, more than 20 boys were abducted in town of Qingxi of Dongguan.
Toddlers and infants, especially boys were taken and sold to be slaves. Many would have their arms and legs amputated eyes blinded, and be used as beggars. They would then be trained and placed in busy intersections in large cities. Physically disabled kids usually draw more donations from sympathetic passerbys.
Dongguan police said they did not have specific numbers on missing children cases, and whatever numbers the parents are using must be exaggerated. The missing parents showed reporters their detailed names and family contacts of all cases registered voluntarily by parents looking for their kids. Nobody knows the real number, but it could only be larger than what has been known.

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) released a statement saying although the team was actually the national professional team, but the Association had nothing to do with the game. Players participated the game 'individually', disguised themselves as students of the Chongqing Daping Middle School. Two real students of the Chongqing Daping Middle School indeed travelled with the team to Turkey, but they were never called on to play on the field.
The head coach of the national team also joined the game as a staff of the Chongqing middle school. When interviewed by a reporter in Turkey, Wu Haiyan, a professional player told him that she had no idea she was playing for the middle school even though the school name was printed on her jersey. "Coaches took care of these stuffs", said Wu.
Chines media was not shocked by the scandal of the national team presented to be a middle school team. However, people are dismayed on the close call results between the Chinese professional team and those authentic middle school teams.

Many figures had been suggested by independent researchers on exactly how many Chinese was killed by the Great Famine. One most cited study derived from population variations estimated around 36 millions Chinese were starved to death from 1959 to 1962, following the failed Great Leap Forward in 1958. The official number had been somewhere from 10 thousands to 100 thousands. This is the first time ever the 'official' number was close to those based on independent studies. The subject has been a taboo because it is believed the cause of the famine was not natural disasters but police mistakes of the CCP.

Liu Xiaoyuan is a high profile Beijing lawyer. For most of the past year, he tried all he could for a fair trail for Yang Jia. Shanghai police kidnapped Yang Jia's mother and locked her up in a mental facility for several months, until they killed Yang Jia. The case was so controversial that many people who never heard of Yang Jia traveled from all across the country to gather in front of Shanghai police bureau to protest. Many of them were arrested. Liu's blog covering the case become the focal point of people's attention. It was chosen as the 'Best Chinese Blog' by the Voice of Germany radio station. Liu followed up every possible threads within the law, and was stoned walled all the way along. Beijing government suspended license of all lawyers in Liu's YiTong Law Firm for half year on March 17, 2009. In a sense, this is a recklessly stupid move, as it converted Liu into a full time writer posting angry anti-government blogs.
Zhou Ze is an insider of the Communism justice system. Ten years ago when he was a clerk of the supreme court, he handled a case that a business woman Liu Ningli was robbed by Shanghai court of all her property, $4 million. It sounds a lot, but not that much for corrupted official's appetite. A small case indeed. Zhou had been working on the same for ten years to no end. Currently he is an associate professor in the Communist Youth League Academy and an established lawyer. He had been using his connections in the case. Three Congressmen introduced five bills regarding this specific case. The Justice Department instructed the Justice Department of Shanghai to appeal the original verdict. The Supreme Court picked up the case. Even the Central Discipline Committee of the CCP examined the case. Everyone told him the case is an obvious abuse of power. In March 2009, Zhou openly dared the legal system that if the case couldn't reach a satisfactory conclusion, he would exhausted all his resource and connections to veto the Supreme Court's Annual Report on the 17th National Congress. The case was not solved, and the Supreme Court received the lowest approval rate in history. However, nobody can do anything to it. It's so reticular that it is not funny.
Liu is a high profile lawyer with enormous media influence. Zhou is an Communist justice system insider with connections to the very top level. Though they were both tumbled by small cases. The ruling class is so terrified by the people, that they have to endorse every crime, regardless of how insignificant it may appears, committed by every corrupted official at the cost of the credit of itself.
<Farewell my Concubine (1993)> is acclaimed as one of the best movies in Chinese motion picture history. Through the life story of two Beijing Opera artists, traditional art was seen struggling through economic tough time, Japanese invasion, but not under communist reign.
Mr. Hu Jintao should pray that God be with him on every day and night, because under the mounting pressure of people's distrust on the communism generated by the communist government itself, any crack overlooked by Hu could explode the entire system into pieces.

Protesters were beaten up by campus security force. Professor Sun Dongdong of Beijing University told the media that 99% of people who did not agree with government were suffering from mental disorder. Mental disorder had been used by Communism government to lock up political dissidents. However since last year, it has become a commonly cited reasoning to lock up anyone who fail to behave 'harmonically'.
In the communism hierarchy, Beijing University is a deputy ministry level government agency. Professor Sun Dongdong is the top forensic expert of the Ministry of Public Security.

From: 澳门日报：《政經風險評估》發表貪污趨勢年報, base on a survey of more than 1,700 expatriate business executives by the Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC).
Most army recruiters, to be precise 78% of them, are veterans returning from either Iraq, Afghanistan, or both. They must recruit two persons per month. As questioned by one of the recruiters' father, 'How could you be over there and see some of the things he saw and dealt with, and try to hire people to go over there and do that?'.
A man's life is hanging on two chains with heavy burden: his career and his family. The conclusion that should be drawn from General Turner's report is: the recruiters died when the only remaining chain was cut. It's worthless to argue which party is more guilty on the recruiters' deaths. Whether it's the army who cut the first chain in the first place, or the domestic partners who cut the remaining one.
With the economic meltdown, the news were filled with cases of suicide after kill. On the contrary, the four recruiters in Houston did not do any harm to other people. After returning from real battlefield seeing life and death, they were more likely to pull the trigger, without excessive mulling. It's probably the process of mulling that leads to harm to other people.
Survey said roofing workers are the most depressed career in the US. No wonder, they have seen too much out there.

According to a recent survey conducted in Taiwan, comparing to 12 years ago, more people in Taiwan consider themselves Taiwanese, rather than Chinese.
The items in the chart are, from top to bottom:
You consider yourself a Taiwanese; You consider yourself a Taiwanese and a Chinese; You consider yourself a Chinese; A Taiwanese is a Chinese
The orange bar represents numbers in 1997 while the blue bars represents numbers in 2009. Taiwan calendar starts in 1911, when the Republic of China (ROC) was founded in Nanjing. It is noted that 'Chinese' as quoted is not the same as citizen of the People's Republic of China.
The rapid changing self identity landscape can be read as a result of political wrangling between two parties. The KMD who historically rely on people originally from the mainland, while the PPD who make itself known by pushing towards an independent country detached from the mainland. Taiwan is one of few places in the world that in very recent years to create an ethic group purely by residency. Both parties count on votes of people who do not agree on the other party's ethnic policy. During the ruling of PPD from 2000 to 2008, more Taiwan people are steered by the politics towards labeling themselves mainstream, Taiwanese.
On the other hand, for many years since the overturn of ROC in 1949 in mainland, people in Taiwan has been fed of the idea that people in the mainland are suffering from the communist ruling, and that people in Taiwan had the moral obligation to rescue folks in mainland. Taiwan had been actively pursuing military assault of mainland until it's obviously that the mainland gained upper hand. Subsequently Taiwan has been worried about being invaded by the mainland, and increasingly sees the mainland a threat. Declaring independence leaves the mainland with one less reason to pursue the unification by force.
The population composition is changing too. Many people originally from mainland before 1949 are dying. In general people from mainland have better education as well as means and ways. Their offspring are more likely to have left Taiwan to US or Japan.

Professor Sun Wenguang of Shangdong University was assaulted and beaten by mobs hired by communism police in public, with uniformed police standing by. If the communism party expects this can deter the people, they should re-read history.
April 5th is a traditional Chinese holiday (Qingming) to pay tribune to dead people. Professor had planned to went to a cemetery to remember former Chinese premier Zhao Ziyang, who lost power in the political struggle on the backdrop of the Tian'anmen Square Massacre in 1989. The leader of Shangdong University and local police warned Professor Sun not to leave home on the day. Professor Sun went ahead anyway, with four uniformed police officer following. When they arrived at the cemetery, a group of mobs emerged and beat Professor in front of the police. Professor Sun had three bones broken. The mob orderly dispersed into crowds after committing the violence in daytime, in a heavy pedestrian traffic park. Because of the presence of the uniformed police, no ordinary citizen were able to help as they did not understand what was happening.
Silicun (Mile Four Village) Police Station told a reporter of Voice of America that the incident was under police investigation. The officer denied any political motivation behind the violence.
Seventy five years old Professor Sun is a physicist of Shangdong University.

It is speculated that Voong, a US citizen hated to see jobs taken away by new citizens. He walked in a citizen language preparation center, and shot 14 people dead, dozens more injured. The center helps foreigners to prepare for the citizenship test. Most of President Obama's Stimulus Package dollars have clauses to make sure the money would be going to US citizens, rather than foreigners (including those hold legal working visa). New citizens become the new competitors in the job market.
Update: the man worked for IBM until one year ago, but had been working in a local manufacture plant before he was laid off last month.
As to the name, he was quoted saying he changed his name from Voong to Wong because "Americans can't pronounce" it.
Update 2: The killer is believed to be a Chinese (Wang Linfa), from Vietnam. His father is a reputed community leader. Among died, four are Chinese citizens. One other Chinese was wounded but is expected to recover.

The 'girl' in the central with khata is Tian Wen, a Beijing native who came to Lhasa after graduated from Renmin University in Beijing and committed her life there. The oil painting "Cheers Lhasa!" was a work of Yu Xiaodong of his artists friends in Lhasa.
Between early 80s to early 90s, many college graduates artists went to Lhasa, the last clean world to find their dream. Most of them had left by now, and some of them died there, including the girl Tian Wen. They were mostly forgotten, except beautiful Tian, who died in 1987 at age of 29.
According to Yu Xiaodong, every details and specifics are meaningful. Yu is entitled to be the only male among many to stand by our beauty, with the only exception of an intruding arm of Li Yuan from the back row. Li Yuan's book was seen covering a closed up Tian Wen's work in missionary position. There's a middle finger from a chopped off left hand pointing to the beauty.
Tian's legal husband, Ye Nong, a Beijing musician who also volunteered to go to Tibet was excluded from this group portrait.
The painting assembled an amazing collection of notable artists in Lhasa during the 1980s. At the time, Lhasa was a notable plateau in the movement of Chinese artists embracing western influences. There are glories and stories behind each and everyone who appears, but all that remembered by themselves is this woman.
The world is being made by women. History is known because of beautiful women.
About Tian Wen:
